Hi there!

This week has been absolutely mad. Not only are we recently back from the US, but I had to find a new place to live in about a week.

Let me explain.

We've been planning a move to Brighton for quite a while. I adore being by the sea, it's still on a main line to London, and my daughter was offered a school spot at a school she's been dying to attend.

So, back in May we started rental hunting and settled on a great little house in a lovely neighborhood. All was going to plan... until the current tenants didn't move out. They asked for a bit more time, and missed their move out date again.

We finally had to back out because we had no assurances when the property would be actually available and we had promised our landlord that we would be moving out.

Fast forward to now, and I am picking up keys to our new Brighton house tomorrow.

There's actually nothing new about this one. It's a Victorian townhouse with old (pretty, but non-working) fireplaces, and a storage space by the kitchen we're lovingly referring to as the dungeon.

I'm glad we are moving into this one after being here long enough to be accustomed to some of the quirks that come with UK properties. If you're wondering about the big differences Americans tend to notice in British houses, I've written a whole article about it! Check it out here​
